How to Create a Modern Easter Basket for Adults // Gift Guide

Posted by: Jamie Kutchman | Founder

Am I the only one who can barely believe it’s almost Easter? I mean, weren’t we JUST ringing in 2017? Anyway, with all the colorful Easter things filling the shelves at all the stores, it got me thinking about Easter baskets and how they aren’t just for kids. They should be for adults too, right? Today, I’m sharing my ideas for curating an adult-only Easter basket. Hope you enjoy!

1 Copper Basket

The vessel always sets the tone for any gifts and in this case, I’ve chosen a copper basket from CB2 as a modern base for the overall gift. I’ve never seen an Easter basket created in anything even close to this so this made me want to try it even more!

2 Tulips

Ahhhh tulips! Nothing says spring like tulips so they were an absolute must when curating this gift. I chose white for a modern, neutral backdrop. Wrapped with kraft paper and tied with ribbon, these add a fresh element to the basket that any adult recipient would be thrilled to receive. Via Telebouquet.

3 Decorative Eggs

An Easter basket isn’t complete without eggs of some kind. Since most grown-ups tend to try and stay away from a ton of chocolate (keyword: try), I selected pastel eggs intended for decorative purposes only. But this doesn’t make them boring! You can display them in a beautiful dish on your coffee table or even as a centerpiece at the kitchen table. The possibilities are endless!

4 Ribbon

I chose green and white striped ribbon as a finishing touch for the gift. It pulls together many of the green elements throughout this gift and is the perfect springtime color.

5 Dish Towels

I am over-the-moon smitten with these botanical dish towels. These can be rolled up and tied with ribbon inside the gift basket. Or, open them up a bit and drape the material over the outside of the basket for additional style.

6 Gift Tag

I selected a kraft gift tag with grommet along with “Happy Easter” in script font for a natural, yet elegant, look. You could have these printed, stamped or even hand-lettered!

7 Bonsai Tree

I’m a huge fan of gifts that involve doing an activity of some sort. This bonsai tree growing kit is a prime example of this! Not to mention, I love the galvanized tin the kit comes in as well as the clippers that come tied at the top. This is a gift in itself!

8 Frutta Fiore Candy

Leave it to Sugarfina to come up with these floral fondant candies that are sure to steal the show. The light pastel candies are gorgeous (and imported from Italy!) but also delicious at the same time.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this gift guide! You still have plenty of time to pull something together in time for Easter and when you do, please share with us! We’d love to hear what you’ve come up with either in the comments or via our contact page. We always love hearing from you!

5 Fall Hostess Gifts That Double As Home Decor

Posted by: Hannah Nowack | Contributor

Hostess thank you gifts and fall….two of my favorite things! L.M. Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables, was definitely speaking to my heart when he said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” With the changing leaves, and crisper air, come autumn dinner parties and, of course, Thanksgiving! In the spirit of gifts that keep on giving, today we are sharing 5 fun fall hostess gifts that will thoughtfully double as decor.

Cake Stand

In one sense, like many kitchen gadgets and utensils, cake stands have a very singular purpose. However, I also believe they can be used in many versatile ways and they add immense depth to decor. A cute cake stand could be styled with smaller decor items and create a gorgeous display for a variety of seasons.

This fall I love the idea of baking an heirloom recipe and bringing a cake, or pie, to share with your hostess. It will be such a joy to share your delicious treat and leaving the cake stand for your hosts is such a thoughtful touch.

Candle Sticks

While I mainly tend to use jar candles, there is something so elegant about assorted candle sticks. This gift idea is a little bit trickier since you need to be acutely aware of the aesthetics of the home you’ve been invited to. However, for Thanksgiving, or for a dinner with close friends, bringing over candles, and gorgeous candle sticks, as a gift is a wonderful idea.

Hostess With The Mostess Gift Box

Our favorite part about our Hostess With The Mostess pre-designed gift box that we offer is just how versatile it is! While the rosemary shortbread cookies are a great addition that the hostess can eat immediately, the lotion, candle, and luxe turkish hand towel can be used for a long time to come!

Whether you’ve been invited to a co-worker’s holiday party, your new neighbor’s dinner party, or your family Thanksgiving dinner, this gift works for so many occasions!

Ornaments

I for one want to savor fall for as long as possible. However, the season always seems to slip quickly away and before I know it Christmas season is upon us in full swing. Christmas in and of itself brings with it a whole host of gifting ideas and demands so why not get a jump start on the festive spirit?

If you’re bringing over a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates as a hostess gift try wrapping them up and then tying a fun ornament on the outside. This thoughtful gift helps spread out the cheer and your hosts will remember your company throughout the Christmas season.

Pumpkins

Now, bear with me on this one! You might be thinking, “I can’t simply show up at my neighbors house with pumpkins!” Being in the special events industry, I love details and the significance of symbolism. I simply love the southern hospitality associated with pineapples, the universal symbol of hospitality. However, not only are pineapples out of season in October, they also clash aesthetically with autumnal decor. This is wear adorable pumpkins come in. While Emily Post may have other thoughts on the matter, I think giving a pumpkin, as a fall substitute for a pineapple, is a wonderful idea.

The concept of sharing a pumpkin with your hostess certainly doesn’t need to be taken literally either! We love the idea of baking a homemade pumpkin pie and gifting it along with a the cake stand we mentioned above! Of course, a small basket of dainty white pumpkins would be a great addition to any mantle vignette or tablescape.

Of course, if someone is kind enough to invite us to a fall dinner party as gorgeous as this one we may just be inclined to bring all of the above hostess gifts! Connecting with dear friends, all while snuggled in that adorable wool blanket, sounds like an autumn dream come true!

Ethically-Sourced and Eco-Friendly Gift Ideas

Posted by: Hannah Nowack | Contributor

It’s no secret that we love spreading the love through artisan gifting. We’re talking wedding welcome gifts, client gifts, corporate gifts, bridal party gifts, workshop gifts and more. But we also love the idea of spreading that love even further!

By incorporating fair trade and ethically sourced products in gifts, you can help out the artisans and producers who created the products you are gifting. Beyond fair trade gifts, another way to think about  gifts that keep on giving is to gift something that will last and continue to brighten their day, long after the event is over!

While there are numerous ways achieve this, today we are highlighting our favorite three!

Basket or Tote

Since your gift has to go in some sort of beautiful container or packaging, why not make it ethically sourced? We love the idea of gifting a beautiful basket that your loved ones can repurpose beautifully in their home. Maybe you know a local artisan who creates gorgeous woven picnic baskets? Sourcing locally is always a wonderful idea and those baskets would be simply darling to use in bridesmaids gifts!

Some of our favorite selections…this yellow pom-pom adorned tote and red one-handled basket!

Coffee

Personally, I run on coffee and I don’t know what I would do without it! However, half the fun of a delicious latte or cappuccino is the mug you’re drinking it in. I tend to be a bit of a coffee mug aficionado and my collection seems to never cease growing! I love receiving cute coffee mugs as gifts and they make cute, sentimental, and practical keepsakes.

We love the idea of including a coffee mug with a package of delicious, fair trade coffee for your dear friends to enjoy! They will love it as a pick-me-up the week after a fun wedding reception. Even better, they can continue to enjoy the mug for a long time to come!

Some of our favorite selections are…this Bolivian Medium Roast and this patterned, monogramed mug!

Jewelry

Attention all brides-to-be! Searching for the perfect way to thank your dear bridesmaids? Why not gift them with gorgeous and ethically-sourced earnings they can wear on your wedding day, and beyond! Not only will they love your stylish selection, they will be proud of how you’re supporting others. Also, this way your bridesmaids don’t have to worry about what to wear on your big day and they are sure to cherish their gift!

Some of our favorite selections… these simple gold studs and this delicate cuff!
