6 Ways to Incorporate Your Hometown into your Wedding

Whether you’re tying the knot in your home state or not, here are some fun ways to pay homage to the place you call home on your big day.
State Flower
Incorporate the state flower into your florals! For example, Maryland’s state flower is the Black Eyed Susan and would make great centerpieces on tables for a casual rehearsal dinner, wedding reception or even in your bouquet. Not only is this way subtle, but incredibly meaningful as well.
Stock the bar
Stock the bar with drinks that are known from your area. Any local liquor store from your home town will have locally brewed beer or bottled wine. Virginians can use this as an excuse to indulge in some John J. Bowman while Maryland natives can try Flying Dog's "Dead Rise Old Bay Summer Ale".
Table Names
This is a fun way for guests to find their seating, and may even give them an ice breaker for conversation! DC area tables could be named after different monuments, or Virginia-based weddings could include tables named after famous Virginians.
Invitations
Include a vintage postcard from your home state as part of your invitation suite. This not only informs your guests of where the weddings will be held but also gives them a good feel for the types of activities and sights and they have in store for them during the wedding weekend.
Welcome Gifts
Welcome gifts are a fantastic way to incorporate your home town. For example, choose snacks that are sourced locally and mention the origin on the packaging. Guests will immediately know that you put the extra time and effort into introducing them to the state you hold so dear.
Local Tours
If you’re getting married in the state you grew up in, a great way to get your guests who will be spending extra time at your wedding’s location or have travelled far to come out would be to arrange a tour of the spot’s historical locations. Your guests will appreciate the effort you’ve put into making them feel at home in a different state and will come to love your home as much as you do.
Guest Book
Just like the vintage postcards, incorporating your home state into your wedding guest book is a fun way to remind your guests where you're from, whether the wedding is actually held there or not.
