Welcome Gifts That Give Back

Excited about your wedding but feeling like you don't want it to be all about you? Well, okay. You want it mostly about you. But it's also important to you to somehow contribute to a greater cause? You're not alone! I've been to many receptions where, in lieu of a wedding favor, the couple instead makes a donation to a charity that is personally meaningful to them. These days, there are so many socially conscious small businesses, it's easier than ever to also use your wedding welcome gifts as a vehicle for giving back.
It's no secret that Well Kept screen cleansing towelettes are a Marigold & Grey favorite. The Atlanta-based, woman-owned business offers a very useful product in an array of adorable patterns to match just about anyone's style. But what's even better is that two of their signature designs actually give back.
First is the Karogoto pattern (top). A portion of the proceeds from the pattern are donated to the Karogoto community in Kenya for business start-up education and seed funding for entrepreneurs! The Drive pattern (bottom) honors Steve Dezember, John McNeeley and others battling ALS. The art for this design was created by Steve who drives over a canvas with his wheelchair. A portion of the proceeds from this pack will be donated to ALS awareness!
NOURI was founded in by two Princeton grads - a husband and wife team with a passion for natural food and doing good in the world. Made in Washington, DC, these snack bars are gluten free, vegan, organic and non-GMO. For every NOURI bar you buy, NOURI will donate a meal to feed a hungry child in school!
Also based in the DC area, newcomer Fruitcycle makes use of local produce that would otherwise go to waste and provides jobs for women who have been formerly incarcerated, homeless, or are otherwise disadvantaged.
Project 7 is a specialty gum and mint brand dedicated to bringing great flavor back into your day while at the same time giving back to seven areas of need. The 7 causes chosen by Project 7 include: Feeding the Hungry, Healing the Sick, supporting those who Hope for Peace, Housing the Homeless, Quenching Those who Thirst, Teaching them Well, and Saving the Earth. All products are proudly made in America. The company partners with non profits making impacts both here in America and abroad.
